Frankfurt dominated in 2010 the development of the largest (by volume) outbound trade lanes, being in control in 13 out of the Top 25 lanes. reports air transport market research service aviainform.
Frankfurt holds also the development of the largest trade lane (FRA-SHA), which also showed highest growth in terms in real tonnage. While Amsterdam improved on the same route (AMS-SHA) by more than 100 per cent, Frankfurt’s growth was “only” a 64 per cent improvement, compared to previous year.
Carriers such as AirBridge Cargo, Air China or Lufthansa Cargo mainly dominated the growth from Frankfurt, making this Europe to China connection to one of the World’s fastest growing route with more than 100.000 tons per annum.
The 2nd largest Destination in Asia was Tokyo with a total of 190.000 tons of freight of which Frankfurt again dominated with a share of roughly one third, followed by Paris, London and Milan. Hong Kong was the 3rd largest Destination in Asia, dominated by Milan, Frankfurt and London.
The largest Destination in North America was New York, ranked 2nd in Europe’s total air exports. Again, Frankfurt dominated this route, followed by London, Amsterdam and Milan. Chicago was the 2nd largest destination in North America where Frankfurt again provided the highest volume, followed by London and Amsterdam.
The Top Routes to India have been dominated by Frankfurt with London and Milan to follow.
Northern Italy’s Milan has significantly improved it’s cargo volume on diverse major trade lanes in 2010.
