After the downturn has lasted for almost eighteen months, optimism grows in the air freight industry, reports Verkehrsrundschau. aviainform analyst Dirk Steiger contributed figures and charts of the recently published Freight Market Outlook 2010 indicating an upward trend in European air freight and commented the development. Apart from China, Dirk Steiger expects India to become a growth driver among worldwide air freight markets. Referring to the recent downturn he points out that carriers and forwarders missed the opportunity to strengthen air freight by intensifying cooperation in the industry.

All-cargo carrier Aerologic must curve around Russia

All-cargo airline Aerologic is not allowed to overfly Russian territory reports „Die Welt“on February 13, 2010. Aerologic, the joint venture of DHL and Lufthansa Cargo, has applied for the permit months ago but approval by Russian Ministry of Traffic is still pending. “Because of the relatively shorter distance involved between China and Western Europe, Russian air carriers have less costs over their rivals and promote their services to customers more aggressively to gain market share” commented Dirk Steiger, analyst of the Frankfurt-based aviainform GmbH.

About 177m Top-level domains (TLD) have been registered globally in 2008 with an expected Year-over-Year increase by 16 per cent.
