TIACA trains East African forwarders
The International Air Cargo Association has started offering courses to East African freight forwarders covering supply chain and transportation management, information technology, safety and security.

To conduct the course, TIACA has joined with the Federation of East African Freight Forwarders' Association (FEAFFA), which has members in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

The week-long course was developed by Hong Kong-based Strategic Aviation Solutions International, an air cargo management consultancy.

“The feedback received clearly indicated the need to initially focus our activities in developing markets,” said Jim Edgar, Boeing’s regional marketing director and chairman of TIACA’s Education and Research Committee. “In FEAFFA we have identified a strong partner that shares our commitment to developing the expertise and skills of the freight forwarding industry and we plan to extend the reach of the program into other markets as well.”

FEAFFA expects more than 2,000 forwarding firms in the region to participate, said John Mathenge, the association’s regional executive officer in Nairobi, Kenya.
