American Airlines reported that August traffic increased 3.1 percent versus the same period last year. Capacity increased by 3.2 percent year over year, resulting in a load factor of 84.6 percent, which was within 0.1 points of last year's load factor. Domestic traffic increased 0.6 percent year over year on 0.8 percent more capacity. International traffic increased by 7.1 percent relative to last year on a capacity increase of 7.0 percent. British Airways: In August 2010 traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, fell by 2.9 per cent. Passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was down 2.6 per cent on August 2009. This resulted in a passenger load factor decrease of 0.3 points versus last year, to 84.4 per cent. Traffic comprised a 1.4 per cent decrease in premium traffic and a 3.1 per cent decrease in non-premium traffic. The year-on-year reduction in premium traffic is due to promotional activity in the premium cabins last year. Cargo, measured in Cargo Tonne Kilometres, rose by 3.4 per cent. Delta Air Lines today reported traffic results for August 2010. System traffic in August 2010 increased 1.1 percent compared to August 2009 on a 1.2 percent increase in capacity. Load factor remained flat at 86.5 percent. Domestic traffic decreased 0.9 percent year over year on a 0.3 percent increase in capacity. Domestic load factor decreased 1.0 point to 85.8 percent. International traffic increased 4.2 percent year over year on a 2.7 percent increase in capacity, and load factor increased 1.3 points to 87.4 percent.
