| Air India’s Frankfurt-HUB in question |
|
India’s national carrier “Air India” has obviously been hit hard with the delays faced from the late arrival of Boeing’s “Dreamliner” aircraft. Over the past years, Air India has established a hub function in Frankfurt, linking flights from the Indian subcontinent and from North America. The carrier uses it’s fleet of new B777ER aircraft since but is now planning to revamp it’s network by using these long-range aircraft for direct flights from India to the USA. Consequently westbound flights ex Frankfurt to the US will be suspended soon, latest by the end of October. Also flights to Ahmedabad and Mumbai are affected. The carrier stated further that they’re planning to introduce a full freighter service linking Frankfurt and Mumbai because of a substantial high demand. Finally Air India will increase it’s rates as from November 01, 2010. Source: aviainform / Air India, September 03, 2010 |
