After the debacle of the bursted opening for June 2012, the opening of the new Berlin Airport (Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt - BER) has now been rescheduled to March 17, 2013. This has been decided and announced by the airport's supervisory board today. The airport has come under pressure early last week when it's management said that the deadline for opening will be missed to due issues of important security requirements. Politicians in the supervisory board said earlier that they've not been aware of any of such issues causing the delay. Online service "Welt.de" further reports that the technical managing director and chief planner, Manfrd Koerten, has been fired today and shall assume full responsibility for the delay including all miscommunication related .
