| Carriers - FedEx does not pay US Taxes? |
|
Activists in the US devoted increased attention to FedEx as several hundred of people protested in front of a FedEx facility in Log Angeles and demanded that the company should pay its corporate tax rate of 35 per cent. The protests were triggered by a report of the left-leaning non-profit organisation "Citizens for Tax Justice" according to which 12 US Corporations - FedEx among them - not only avoided taxes completely but received tax refunds due to the current law in the USA. A FedEx spokeswoman dismissed the accusations and again called the report "extremely inaccurate and misleading". She said that in the past five Years FedEx had paid taxes of 9bn Euros. Why the protests, which were organized by non-profit organisation Good Jobs L.A. and the unions Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Teamsters took place right now, is not clear.
